The Intruder is the 3rd episode of season 3, and overall 29th episode of the Animated Series.
Plot[]
In Brantford, Peter is watching an R-rated movie, which he shouldn't be doing as Judy thinks it would be a bad influence on him, but when Judy steals the remote and runs into the attic, the kids find a strange scary young man who broke in through the smashed window, who stops them from leaving the attic. Desperate, Judy and Peter quickly roll the dice to play "JUMANJI" in attempt to escape the stranger and get the clue: "YOUR VIEW IS ASKEW, YOUR MORALS ARE STUNTED,
TILL YOU SEE THE ROBBER ROBBED AND THE HUNTER HUNTED.".
This time, Judy and Peter are shocked that even the robber was also sucked into The Game with them as well, but in their attempt to run away, Judy nearly falls into one of Van Pelt's pit traps which would kill her and when Peter is unable to pull her out, the robber, who tells them to call him Jack, saves her. Jack is confused by the circumstances, but still doesn't believe them when they tell him about "JUMANJI", so he decides to tie them both up and heads off to explore. Judy manages to free Peter, but Jack comes back after being attacked by a savage squirrel. Thinking of a way to escape, Peter improvises a plan by pretending Judy has to go to the bathroom and uses the opportunity to escape. Peter also gets away while Jack is distracted, but Jack quickly learns of their escape and starts looking for them. He pretends to fall into Van Pelt's trap and Peter "saves" him and Jack claims that now that Peter's saved him, they have a bond and Peter decides to lead him to Alan.
Meanwhile, Judy heads straight to Alan's to tell him about Jack, so they immediately head off to find Peter. Somewhere near Van Pelt's Lodge, Jack tries to swing over a gorge, but fails and when Peter tries to help, he ends up hanging while Jack makes it across safely and plans to leave him there, but Peter tricks him into saving him by pretending Van Pelt is a billionaire with valuables like emeralds which interests Jack. On their way to find the emeralds, Peter blows his nose in a way to try and fool Jack that the jungle pollen makes him sneezy and throws his handkerchief away, but Peter is really leaving a clue behind so Alan and Judy are able to find him. Alan is concerned that Peter is heading towards Van Pelt's place, but Judy thinks it is Jack who is being led into a trap. At night, Peter escapes Jack and soon finds Alan and Judy who are introduced to Jack, but Alan tackles Jack over the edge of a hill, to a pond of giant snapping Turtles. Alan pulls Jack out of the pond, but Jack kicks Alan back in, apparently getting killed and Judy and Peter are recaptured by Jack who ties up Judy again as leverage to send Peter to rob Van Pelt of his supposed emeralds.
In Van Pelt's Lodge, Peter searches the house for something convincing enough to bring back, and after Van Pelt fortunately opens the window to let fresh air in, Peter makes off with a chest he finds on Van Pelt's desk. Jack goes to hurt Judy and Peter goes to surrender the chest to him, but Alan shows up and frees Judy allowing them to run away. Judy tries patching Alan's scrapes as he reveals he got away from the Turtles, but then got caught up in the current of the river that sent him to safety over a waterfall. Opening the chest, they find no emeralds, but the horn of a Juroceros, which Alan has never seen before. Van Pelt then shows up, revealing the trophy is the horn of a legendary creature he hunted and felled years before Alan played "JUMANJI". The hunter boasts that because it was the last of it's kind, he is honored to be the keeper and furious that they stole it from him. Luckily for them, that wasn't the last of its kind after as Van Pelt is then attacked by a surprise Juroceros, before he can harm them. The trio then capture Jack who is not surviving well on his own, and desperate to be saved, so they reluctantly take him with them, after tying him up first.
After dawn, the trio lead Jack to a dead end, Alan shows them the way to climb by grabbing the vines from an octopus like plant. But Jack manages to get free from his bonds and steals the chest, scaling the hill and throws the vines down at them before running off, leaving them to take another route. On the safer but less exciting path, they encounter Jack again and who is now being chased by the Juroceros and the kids realize their clue is solved as Van Pelt was hunted by the Juroceros and they robbed Jack of his prize of emeralds he expected. Judy, Peter and Jack return home just before Jack is killed, who found out that there were no emeralds after all.
Back in the Parrish Mansion, Judy and Peter make a run for it while Jack is dazed what happened, calling out to Aunt Nora for help. Jack tries to catch them but then falls down the stairs behind them, just as Officer Bentley steps inside, who noticed their attic window was broken and came to check it out as he was aware there was a robber on the loose in town. Bentley spots Jack and arrests him and after being in "JUMANJI", Jack gladly begs to be taken to jail.
Continuity[]
- Juroceros was previously seen in Brantford: The Game and The Plague, with different colors. In the previous episode Young Alan, when Judy and Peter had travelled back into the past, Trader Slick tried to appease them by selling off his very valuable Juroceros horn.
- Since Van Pelt claimed to have hunted what he believed to have been the last Juroceros years before Alan was stuck in The Game, it is likely that Van Pelt only took one horn from the felled beast, and Slick then got the other.
